How to Get a Free Copy of My Credit Report?

Many clients ask me how to go about getting a free copy of their credit report. You are entitled to a free copy of your credit report from each of the three credit reporting agencies once a year. You have three ways to request it.

1. You can order it online right here at
annualcreditreport.com
2. You can call 1-877-332-8228 and request it
3. You can obtain a request form
https://www.annualcreditreport.com/manualRequestForm.action and mail it to: Annual Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281.

You will need to answer some questions to verify your identity.

How do I Find Out My Credit Score?

Although your free annual credit report does not include your credit score, you can find it out by paying for it when you request it online. Or when you apply for a loan at a bank or credit union you can request a copy of your credit report and your credit score.

How Often Should I Check My Credit Report?

Although you can request all 3 credit reports at once, some choose to request them throughout the year. It is important to make sure your credit reports are accurate. Financial institutions review your personal information and payment histories when deciding whether to offer you a loan and at what interest rates. If the reports are not accurate, then you can write to the credit reporting agencies and request they be corrected. If you need help reviewing your credit reports and need correction letters sent, then feel free to set up an initial consultation by calling me at 715-842-2162. We’d be happy to help you.
